Prohibited Items Policy
Enforced by automatic screening + student moderators
Banned outright
- Medicines and supplements: banned whether new or used (Drugs and Cosmetics Act licensing).
- SIM cards: transferring one creates criminal liability for both parties under the Telecom Act 2023.
- Standalone lithium batteries and cells: restricted under the Battery Waste Management Rules 2022, and a fire risk in hostels. Devices with built-in batteries, such as phones and laptops, are fine to sell.
- Weapons of any kind, including air rifles and knives.
- Alcohol, tobacco, vapes, hookah and drugs: banned in all forms.
- Live animals.
- Counterfeits: "first copies" and replica brands.
- Academic-integrity violations: current or upcoming exam papers, leaked question banks, and assignment or thesis writing services.
- College or hostel property: mattresses, lab equipment or furniture belonging to the institution.
- Event tickets above face value.
Restricted in rental mode
- High-value portable electronics: laptops, cameras, drones, phones, consoles and smartwatches can be sold or exchanged, but not rented, until per-rental insurance exists.
- Anything motorized: excluded because of Motor Vehicles Act and insurance exposure.
- Deposits above ₹5,000: a deposit may never exceed the item's replacement value.
Enforcement
Listings are screened at creation; users can report anything that slips through (two reports auto-flag a listing for moderator review). Violations lead to removal, and repeat or serious violations to suspension. When the law is involved, the evidence pack goes to campus security or police.
